Ask the Experts Eco-Friendly Wood Protection

What eco-friendly options are there to protect my cabin?

I recently purchased a wooden cabin - made of Norway Spruce - and I am enquiring what would be my most eco-friendly options to protect the wood - internally and externally. I would like if possible to maintain the wooden look but protect it well.

We Recommend

OSMO U.V. Protection Oil offers eco-friendly, clear protection for your garden structure.

Protection

All exterior woods grey into a patina colour over time, but UV-Protection Oil has been developed to maintain the wood's natural colour and slow the greying process by (UV factor) 12 times in comparison to untreated wood. Ideal for windows, doors, cladding, fencing and other vertically structured joinery (not recommended on flat surfaces such as decking).

Natural oil-based and microporous finish does not crack, flake, peel or blister. Water and dirt resistant, moisture regulating and reduces wood swelling and shrinkage

Eco-Friendly

The foundation of Osmo wood finishes has been based upon purified and refined natural resources through the last 40 years. The dry finish is safe for humans, animals and plants. Osmo uses carefully harvested natural oils (sunflower, soya, linseed and thistle oils) and hard waxes (carnauba and candelilla waxes) for it's finishes. The inorganic pigments used for Osmo wood finishes are created from natural ores, these are cleaned and refined until a level of physiological purity has been achieved and only a pure mineral element remains.
