5 Quick Interior Design Tips For Christmas

At Pat McDonnell Paints we have comprised a list of 5 quick decor ideas to spruce up (get it?) your home this Christmas. To save you time, this is all about the feature wall! You don’t need to do much, just painting one wall in a room, or giving some old furniture a lick of paint can make the world of difference. To find out how to see your home in a new light this Christmas please read below.

It may seem like an unusual colour scheme for Christmas, but trust us, it works! Black and white is a great colour base for the traditional decor of green fir’s and warm golden lights. Try All White (2005) and Pitchblack (256) both from Farrow & Ball to create a similar look.

The popular millennial Hygge trend that has swept in to our homes from Denmark.  The go to colours for this look are white’s , greys and beige’s or as we like to call them Greige, a colour blend of grey and beige. Alongside some Christmas foliage and natural wood furnishings, your home will look cosier than ever.  Use Calm Cloud from the Dulux Easycare Washable Matt range for this look.

3.Glamorous Chic

Fancy yourself as a bit of a Carrie Bradshaw? Well then this glamorous look of bold dark colours complimenting the accents of golds and whites in the furniture is the one for you this Christmas. Railings (31) from Farrow & Ball will help to create this stunning look for you.

4.Boys Club

Traditional and classic, the rich tones that come from the colour green can transform a living room in to an eclectic high-end haven. The ever so lovely Christmas Wreath colour from Colourtrend’s Historic Collection would do this job nicely.

If you’re looking to do something really different this Christmas why not try an alternative Christmas tree on the wall? Wall trees are becoming ever more popular, especially for those with smaller rooms in their home to save space. A light plain colour paint on the wall works well with this idea, like Milk Teeth from Colourtrend’s Historic Collection.

Please not that all colours mentioned are suggestions only. If you are interested in adding any of these colours in to your home for Christmas please pop in to one of our stores and chat to our in-store team and colour consultants before you paint.
