Preparation is the essential key to superior looking, long lasting results.
A properly prepared wall should be clean, dry and solid i.e. without any cracks or imperfections.
Newly Plastered Walls
New plaster must be thoroughly dry before painting.
Remove any surface salts with a brush or dry cloth.
Prime bare plaster with 1 part water to 5 parts paint.
Previously Painted Walls
Wash off dirt and grease with warm soapy water.
Remove loose paint or any powdery substances.
Fill holes/cracks with your choice of filler.
For glossy surfaces lightly sand walls to provide key for adhesion before starting painting.
Treat new rendering which has not been painted before with your choice of primer.
