Colour Palette from Salone del Mobile Milan with Dulux Ireland

Salone del Mobile Milan was overwhelming!! So much to see, explore and digest. I am delighted to share the buzz of Salone del Mobile Milan fair with you. It was a pleasure to attend the show with Dulux brand marketing manager Judith Byrne from Dulux Ireland. A designer visiting a trade show is like a trip to wonderland. More so, the experience was further enhanced by accompanying Judith who provided a different perspective. She is equally passionate about colour and it was beneficial to discuss colour trends for the upcoming seasons. A shared experience is far more dynamic. Also, meeting new and old suppliers, while catching up with the work of other colleagues and seeing the new innovations. Noticing trends and absorbing the overall atmosphere is design-heaven.

I was pleased to see colour revival at the Salone del Mobile Milan show. Colour breathes life into our surroundings, evokes emotions and adds charisma. It is like being born over and over again. A fresh coat of paint, wallpaper or a new couch can bring emotion back to a lifeless interior.
Colour was the prominent attraction among many companies from all continents. Colour is the main interior trend for 2015/2016. A lot of thought and effort had gone into planning a stand. It is easy to forget the identity of a company as there are more than 2000 of them. Some had gone to great lengths to ensure they offered remarkable memories. The main trend through various themes, moods and styles was colour. Sense of colour confidence is seen globally from Greek, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese companies, amongst others.

I have broken down Salone del Mobile Milan 2015 show into themes and given each interior trend direction a name. You will find some inspirational thoughts and questions in the next blog posts. This is only my view. Do create your very own palette of colours! The following images are snap shots from the show, complemented with colours from various Dulux colour collections.

Pat McDonnell Paints always recommend the application of a sample prior to a final decision on any colour. There are a number of factors which can substantially influence how a colour looks on a chip card/computer screen & how it will look in a room setting. e.g the quality of a camera image, quality of the computer screen, the lighting in the room etc.
